Five players in the World Golf Ranking top-10 led by World No. 1 Dustin Johnson renew their rivalry as the RBC Heritage tournament tees off tonight.

Whereas several top players will be seeking to erase painful memories from their debacle in the just-concluded Masters tournament, for some especially latest sensation Will Zalatoris the 52nd  RBC Heritage event provides a perfect opportunity to continue climbing further up the OWGR.

The five players in the OWGR top-10 roll chasing the Kshs 774 million prize money include Johnson (1), Collin Morikawa (4), Tyrell Hatton (8), Webb Simpson (9) and Patrick Cantlay. The winner will take home a cool Kshs 140 million.

Johnson leads the pack of high profile players who had a disappointing outing at Augusta and are hard pressed to make a statement at the par 71 Harbour Town Golf Links tonight.  Johnson, who was the defending champion surrendered his crown after failing to make the cut at Augusta. Morikawa had mixed fortunes finishing T18 while Cantlay missed the cut too alongside Lee Westwood, Matt Kuchar, Sergio Garcia, Dylan Frittelli and Matt Wolf and their work is cut out for them at the RBC Heritage.

Budding youngster Zalatoris will be hoping to build on The Master’s surprise performance, where he finished runner up, for his maiden PGA Tour win. Other’s carrying fine form from Augusta to the RBC Heritage include Corey  Conners ( T8), Cameron Smith (T10),  Si Woo Kim (T12), Stewart Cink (T12), Brian Harman(T12), Webb Simpson (T12), Kevin Na (T12), Tyrell Hatton (T18)  and Harris English (T21).

Other big names in contention at the RBC Heritage who had a relatively quiet outing at Augusta include Paul Casey, Shane Lowry, Ian Poulter, Abraham Ancer, Tommy Fleetwood and Mathew Fitzpatrick.

Webb Simpson won last year’s event after setting a course record of -22. The field of 138 will be cut down to 65 plus ties for the weekend rounds.
